
Going through the rather on the one hand wearisome process of transcribing text from the few hundreds of pictures I’ve up to now taken of documents, ship logbooks etc from the Bristol Archives; and, on the other hand rewarding as, it seems, the physical act of peering at this over 220 year-old handwriting, then writing the exact words – as far as I can decipher them – seems to unlock things, emotions, ideas for what this soundscape is going to say within me (now that’s a rather long sentence! Still – they liked very long sentences in those days)
