Steart Marsh – The Three Waters

The Three Waters is a National Lottery Heritage Fund commission for WWT (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust) Steart Marshes’ Connecting Coastal Communities programme (2025-2027), in collaboration with Austrian/Bristol-based multi-media artist Simone Einfalt. Einfalt “creates work at the intersection of moving image, object and sound art, often utilising new and emerging technologies such as Motion Capture, Augmented Reality or 3D Scanning to explore place and its human and non-human voice, materiality, heritage and speculative futures.”

This year we are prototyping possible artistic responses to salt marsh and other suchlike liminal environments (neither sea, nor sky, nor land, nor water, but a never ending swirl, intermingling, morphing, shifting … in short, magical places of constant change). Our prototype experience includes experiments in realising interactive sound spaces in external locations as well as corresponding interactive audio-visual gallery pieces combining site-specific sound, created sound, community heritage recordings, Lidar scans, 3D models, and drone footage (among others).
