Satsymph Hermes (The Temple of Hermes) contains Intricately programmed, interactive layers of contemporary music, poetry and prose. The soundscape is was layered over Hamworthy Park in Poole, Dorset in 2012 and re-arranged 2019. Commissioned by BCP Council 2012 and 2019

The work’s theme is Hermes, traditionally messenger of the gods, guide to the Underworld, patron of thieves and liars, of literature and poets, as well as of boundaries and those who, as in this work, “travel across them”. In other words, a trickster god and definitely a rogue

The soundscape uses SSQR – Satsymph’s ‘in-house’ interactive, spatialized platform. On your screen you will see blobs and shapes of different colours. When you navigate to those soundpools, the sound reacts to how you behave when in it: face one direction, for example, hear one thing; face another, hear something else; enter a soundpool once, hear a particular mix; leave, then enter it again – hear something else from the stacked soundfiles. Play with the sound!
