The poems are triggered by your phone’s GPS, so you need to have location services enabled. iPhone: Settings>Privacy & Security>Location Services> on. Android: Settings> Biometrics and security>Location> on
you also need to make sure the app can use your camera, otherwise when you press the SCAN button from within the app, nothing will happen. To enable these functions: iPhone: Settings>SatsymphQR> set ‘Location’ to ‘While using’; switch camera and Mobile Data on (button shows green) Android: Settings>Apps>SatsymphQR>Permissions> make sure your camera and location are enabled (button is green)
Also, in ‘app permissions’ it helps to TURN OFF NOTIFICATIONS, otherwise various bells and whistles will sound at intervals
Um, sometimes people hear nothing because your phone’s sound is turned off … just saying. So make sure you turn it on!
Remember – GETTING THE WALKS ON YOUR PHONE IS ALWAYS A 2-STAGE PROCESS. (1) You need to have Satsymph QR on your phone. (2) Then you need to add the walk you want to go on to ‘Library’ by pointing the SCAN function WITHIN THE APP ITSELF at the relevant QR, whether this QR is on your pc/laptop screen, or on the paper pdf you have printed out (or on any promotional literature).
the experience is downloaded to your phone and uses your phone’s GPS. Interestingly enough, each person’s phone reacts slightly differently, and – did you know this? – your phone when in ‘location’ mode is continually asking ‘Is Ralph here or is he … there?‘ It’s jumping around all the time, it’s never ‘oh, THIS is IT!’ So things, locations of the soundpools etc etc can vary, hour to hour, minute to minute, day to day. It’s a characteristic of the technology – go with it!
no, we do not track you through the app. The only information we gather is the number of times Satsymph QR has been downloaded
sound quality is obviously better with headphones/earbuds. These also allow you to hear the ‘spatiality’ which is a feature of some of the audio (what you hear depends on which way you’re facing).
An interesting suggestion a tester made recently was that, if you’re a party of people, one person (maybe a child) could be designated ‘official soundpool sniffer‘ – they go find the soundpool with one phone and the rest crowd around to hear the poem. Sounds like a lot of fun!
If you are not on location at the start of any of the walks you will get and have pressed the START button, you will just get a black screen. This is locational technology – you have to go to the start of the walk at the west end of the Marine Lake to see and be on the map and start the walk
